Private Residences by Small Luxury Hotels of the World

Thailand, Phuket Grand Villa Natai

Deluxe beachfront villa on Thailand’s beautiful West coast. Little sister to SLH’s Aleenta Resort and Spa Phuket.

The villa takes its name from the pristine and secluded long stretch of white sand of Natai Beach which it overlooks. With an idyllic location and truly stunning Andaman Sea views, the emphasis at Grand Villa Natai is very much on outdoor living. The 1,660 square metre site features a two storey luxurious private house, extensive sundecks including a 155 square metre beachfront terrace and adjoining 115 square metre pool, which is one of two at the villa. Naturally there are both indoor and outdoor dining areas, so you can enjoy the cool interiors or recline in tropical splendour outdoors.  more...

To add to the relaxing atmosphere, the Grand Villa Natai features a state-of-the-art home entertainment system with countless videos on demand, iPod with music library, and an indoor/outdoor sound system that can be controlled from any room. The large outdoor areas provide the very best in beach living with two swimming pools and comfortable shaded seating. As well as the chef and butler staff, your concierge is also on hand to arrange whatever you might wish. There are three excellent golf courses within 20 minutes drive of the villa and sailing and private yacht charters are always available.

It is very hard to drag yourself away from the intoxicating beauty of the beach and Andaman Sea, but if you do want to experience a little of the serene local culture, then perhaps visit Big Buddha with its amazing mountaintop views; Wat Chalong temple, richly decorated with vibrant colours; or Phuket Old City with its myriad of quaint coffee shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants. If nature is more the thing that makes your heart skip a beat, then you have to visit the Similan Islands, which are quite simply one of the most beautiful places in the World. A bold statement perhaps, but these amazing uninhabited islands, located off the West coast of Thailand, are easily accessible and worth a day of anyone’s time. On a day trip you can go sightseeing and snorkelling on four of the nine islands, or make two amazing dives.

  • Best local fine dining restaurant – The Edge Restaurant – a 10 minute walk or 1 minute by complimentary transfer. Dishes range from timeless Thai staples to innovative dishes utilising the finest ingredients and the island’s freshest, seasonal produce. http://www.aleenta.com/en/hotels-resorts/aleenta-phuket-phangnga/res/edge/
  • Best casual restaurant – with a 155 square metre beachfront terrace, for the ultimate in barefoot luxury, there are few better places to be than Grand Villa Natai, with your food and drinks prepared by your private chef.
  • Best restaurant for lunch or breakfast – Innovative cooking, presentation and taste using regionally sourced organic seasonal produce in a relaxing, casual, yet stylish atmosphere … and they are open from 6.30 in the morning for you early breakfasters. http://thecornerphuket.com
  • Best patisserie – Their motto is that they offer the perfect service “for those with a sweet tooth and eye for good quality” and have several branches on Phuket www.watermarkpatisserie.com
  • Best place for a sundowner – The Edge Beach Club – the lovely bar of big sister property Aleenta Phuket, where their theme encourages guests to revel in Earth, Water and Air with a lounge and bar area by the beach, a swim-up pool bar and a rooftop terrace.
  • Best local bar – Several along the beach as Mao Khao, an 11 kilometre, straight beach which is still relatively undeveloped as it is part of the Sirinat National Park Beach. A particular favourite is JJ’s Bar.
  • Best nightclub – Phuket offers an amazing varietry of nightclubs from the lively and famous nightclubs around Patong such as Seduction http://seductiondisco.com/, to the stylish Catch Beach Club at Surin Beach http://catchbeachclub.com
  • Best place for a picnic – Natai Beach – 20 kilometres of beach so you have no problem find your own quiet spot and it is right by the villa.
  • Notable local cultural events , festivals or celebrations – New Year’s Eve, Songkran and Loi Kratong Thai festivals http://www.tourismthailand.org/What-news/detail/Thailand-gears-up-for-traditional-Thai-New-Year-Songkran-fun--1620. Loi Kratong or ‘Festival of lights’ entails small lotus shaped floats, traditionally made out of the trunk of a banana tree are made into small candle lit boats that float gently out onto the water and fire lanterns light up the whole of the night sky – a very beautiful and serene occasion
  • Must see – Natai beach – 20km of golden sands plus local waterfalls and national parks including Khao Sok National Park
  • Must do – Swim or walk the beach, take a mountain bike to a local farm or waterfall and visit a local Thai market
  • Must try – There are so many great specialities in Thailand, but given the coastal location and the Thais speed from net to table, then the seafood is exceptional and hard to beat. As a very typical Thai dish, try Tom Yam Goong, a unique combination of spicy hot and sour with a generous use of fragrant lemongrass, lime leaves, galangal and shallots.
  • Hidden secret – Thai Muang Turtle Sanctuary – perhaps not a secret, but definitely fun and educational and the money from the entry ticket will be put to very good use.
  • Best time to visit for the weather – All year round offers good weather, although the wettest months are July to October.
  • Best time to visit to avoid the crowds – Just avoid the New Year period.
