Private Residences by Small Luxury Hotels of the World

Italy, Lake Como Villa Norma

Beautiful villa with its own private dock on the shores of Lake Como

Named after the lead of Bellini’s opera Norma, Villa Norma is a three bedroom, five bathroom villa set over 350 square metres and is built in Neoclassical style. Distributed over four floors and with its own private elevator, it has large windows overlooking the lake. In addition to the bedrooms, the villa also offers a full kitchen, dining room, living room and library with fireplace, a game room with pool table and wet bar, private dock, outdoor lakefront Jacuzzi, terrace and private garden. The style of the property with its fine stucco works is typical of the Lake Como area.

The villa is set in the six-and-a-half acre lakeside estate of big sister SLH property CastaDiva Resort and Spa and as such, as well as the privacy of your own private residence, all the resort facilities are also available should you wish to use them. There is a superb spa, with salt room built from Himalayan pink salt; the Orangerie restaurant offering wonderful Italian flavours with an emphasis on local traditions and seasonal produce; Bellini Bar with outdoor terrace; and a real favourite is the nightly fountain and light show at the swimming pool, floating on the lake.

Every visitor is drawn to discover the romance of Lake Como and to explore the villages along the shore either by boat or car. Your concierge will be happy to arrange either, or even a float plane for an amazing view of the lake and valley beyond. As well as the estate grounds, the local area is well noted for its fascinating gardens, none more so than Villa Carlotta with its beautiful displays and art masterpieces spread over 70,000 square metres. The gardens chiefly owe their reputation to the spring flowering rhododendrons and azaleas of which there are more than 150 varieties, although it is well worth a visit at any time of year because of the stands of ancient sequoia and cedar, the Rock Garden, Bamboo Garden and Fern Valley. The area is equally well served in the arts, and a visit to Teatro Sociale di Como, which
celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2013, is highly recommended.
